I was looking at a 1998 RK that is carbed. I'm now also looking at a 1996 RK (FLHP actually).

The FLHP is extremely clean and half the cost ($4000) and has around 46k miles on it.

Is there any real difference between these two bikes?

 

If both are carbed, not major differances, the 97-98 will accept parts up to 2005, the 95 has a different frame that will only accept the earlier fuel tank and seats although the 97 and up seats will work with some slight mods.

The 98's advantage would be parts availabilty if you are planning on doing a bunch of mods, if not, the cheaper 95 will work.

 

Sounds to me as if the older bike is a good purchase. As you spend more time in here you will find we can work around most things that may pop up.

 

Yes, they lowered the seat in 97'. I had a 96', which offered more leg room as a result of the frame change in 97'.
