Fixing leaks, 95 fxstc
I e got a leak somewhere. Behind the inner primary, so I'm gonna change out the three shaft seals and all nessisary gaskets to cover all the possibilities. Any tricks or tips I should keep in mind while doing the work? Clutch removal, or the use of RTV?
Also have leaky nose cone/cam cover. Since I'll be in there, I'm changing cam out for an EV27, adj pushrods, and Torrington cam bearing. What are some things to watch out for? Thanks.

For the past couple seasons while getting the old bike to perfect leak free condition I\ve been using Gasgacinch for the gaskets and green loctite for the oil seals and stuck to the torque specifications.
Don't forget to do the shifter seal and use blue locktite on the shifter arm allen bolt. There is a precise way of retorqueing down the inner to the motor and tranny, pay special attention to this. I didn't use rtv anywhere.
Take your time.

One thing that happened to me when putting in my cam was the cam seal in the cam cover. I should have changed this with the cover off but I did not. It was leaking after the fact but it was easy enough to change out. I had oil leaking out of the hole that the wires run out of the nose cone. The oil was then going down the wire to the bottom of the motor making it look like the cover itself was leaking. So it may be worthwhile to put a new one in. Just a thought.

Replace the O-Ring that fits to the L/H engine case behind the front portion of the inner primary. When that O-Ring leaks it'll send you around in circles trying to find it!
If you don't already have one of these...get it!

I used a wooden door chock when I replaced my stator, worked great.
How do I remove the clutch basket? The manual only talks about taking it apart.

You have to use a special tool to compress the diaphram spring (if you have a factory stock clutch). Actually you should invest in a Factory Manual becuse it will give you good instructions on how to remove that clutch hub and many other things!
