Default Twin cam ign harness for MM EFI conversion?

Anyone know if the HD factory # 32435-99 twin cam carburated ignition harness, will work on a 1997 Road King (for the MM EFI to carb) conversion? I have been told yes and no? I know the # 32435-97 harness is obsolete from HD. Just thought I would ask here, before I start fabbing up my own harness - per Jaspers schematic. I am slowly gathering up the parts to ditch the MM EFI on my 97

Don't have the answer just keeping this one alive as we al know the MM system is prone to problemsand owners need good solutions to failing MM systems.

Just because a part is obsolete doesn't mean you can't find one. Did you have your dealer do a search for one??? Be aware there are still some HD dealers using the old inventory system and it doesn't talk to the new one!!! Next go to your dealer and get one of those HD tour map books. In it is a list of dealers in each state, starting in your state call the dealers and ask if they have the part you are looking for, or (and this is important) if they know of anyone that might have one. There are numerous individuals that buy out complete dealerships or just obsolete stuff from dealers needing shelf space. Also there are many motorcycle specific salvage yards that can pull that harness off for you, as the wiring you are looking for is usually not damaged in a wreck.
We have found every obsolete part we've needed so far using this method. Hope this helps.

I don't know if the TC harness will work either, but I would just look for the correct harness. You can try pinwall cycles, and Elvis's on eBay. They buy totaled bikes. I would suspect that a harness would survive most any crash. Fire though, not so much.

Not quite the same thing, I realise, but I recently found a pair of 1990 tank decals for my bike, long discontinued, from eharleyparts.com. It's well worth spending a little (well quite a lot actually!) time looking around.

The 1999 TC Harness is a bit different from a 1997 Carby bike....TC's don't have VOES, they use a MAF sensor instead.....also the TC harness is not compatible with the Evo-style ign pick up, module or coil.

If it was me I would use an Evo harness from a carby tourer to ensure the connectors go where you need them to.

Or just wire it from scratch as its only the ign part you need.

its an EASY harness man. i mounted my ign module under the right side cover, the harness only has to be ~ 6" long in my case (I made it ~ 12", and looped it, so I know I've got enough slack to move things around if need be).

as spanners said, the TC harness wont work (i almost bought one, local guy had one available, but the pinouts werent correct). is your 97 and 8pin harness?

Thanks for the input all! I will probably just build my own harness, as per Jasper86 schematic. My local HD dealer parts dept is clueless. If's its not a new twinkie powered bike, your in the wrong shop : ( I will try Pinwalls, as I have ordered stuff from them in the past for my old Honda 3 wheelers. I appreciate all the help! Can't wait to ditch the MM EFI for good!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got my harness from Pinwall. Cheaper than the connectors and shells.

Moog Player,
I have ordered from Pinwall in the past, good outfit! I emailed them about the 1997 carb ignition harness, and currently they have none in stock. I will keep checking with them.
