Default Shorter Softail rear fender struts

Throwing a custom dyna style fender on 1998 softail and the stock struts are too long anyone know if fatboy or heritage struts would work?

Thanks,

Don't know wether those struts would fit, also don't know wether you've taken your struts off but if they're anything like the ones on Twin Camm bikes what your looking at is only a cover, the strut that does the work is a lot shorter thing underneath.

All strut covers of that era are the same length...the only difference is if they have holes for turn signals, and where those holes are located. They used to make covers so you could cut them shorter and hide the cut ...haven't seen those in a while. Most aftermarket shorter struts are designed to cut off the factory strut for use with a wider tire. Alloy Art lights would cover a minor cut...but there is a limit how far you can go since the cover is tapered.

there's a how to somewhere on shortening your struts. You cut the lower lip off, leave the top lip intact. Cut the strut cover just behind the second to last hole (but not the lip). then wrap the lip around an have it tigged an polished.
