Default primo rivera starting issues help!!!!!!

ok here's my settup

i have an s&s v111" super stock ignition

using the stock inner and outter harley primary (vented)

a primo rivera 1 3/4" brute 3 belt drive

a rev tech 6 speed tranny

a spyke 1.4 kw starter

and a drag specialties battery (gel)

my problem is every like 3rd or fourth start its grinding kinda like

when you restart your car??

when it was happening or i should say b4 it happens i'd leave it in first gear bump back on the starter then pull clutch and start it seemed to clear it up
i havta test that again though

ok other thought may be crazy i swapped out the old starter bolts for stainless steel versions of them now i'm thinking is it possible these bolts which stretch more than grade 8 bolts...are they loosening up under the pressure???

I have their 3 inch open belt , Sometimes mine will do that, I have checked everything.I believe mine is doing it right when the bike shuts off and lands on a compression stroke..

You say 3rd or 4th try, maybe you're draining the battery down after trying to crank it. Whats the clearance on the starter shaft and the flywheel? Might need to shim it.
Nice ride by the way!

Moving the bike back and forth won`t do anything, because the starter can only be rotated if the starter pinion gear is engaged. Unless you are doing this while the start button is pressed...

I think the starter clutch is your problem.

Or a combo of low battery AND clutch. Had that happen twice on my last bike (starter clutch).

well why i think it's happening or i should say why bouncing back on it is working is the pinion gear is getting caught....talking with the guys from spyke they sent me a simple relay settup to circumvent my thunder heart controller stating the thunder heart controller uses a micro 30a relay and when it get's hot is not enough to turn the starter and return the pinion gear

You shim the jackshaft with the right thinkness spacer(washer) You should check and see what your clearances is before ordering the shim kit
