What's The Difference?

So I'm going to install a set of 16" Wild1509s on my 1995 Road King. After looking over the Russell brake lines that are already on the bike I don't see any way to simply switch out the upper brake line. So that feels to me like I not only need the extended cables and lines but I'm pretty much stuck doing the entire front brake system. In all my digging around looking at the preassembles kits out there I can't find any that are for a 1995 King. Most places seen to have the 1996 as the first year they offer kits for.

I'm wondering what the difference is between a 1995 and 96? It's a carbed bike with no cruise or any other bells and whistles...what the hell is the difference?

I'd be interested in hearing how other guys have accomplished installs like this. I bought the bars from MadBobber and they have the wiring already extended (and routed through the bars) so wiring isn't an issue (depending on how much he cut off on the plug side!).

Thanks in advance.

Part number for '95 RK is 43350-94A
Part number for '96 RK is 43350-96A

I know HD changed MC between those years.

When I went to dual disk on mine I pieced it together and so far so good.

I know that doesn't really answer your question but I hope it helps.

In 96 they changed the controls and all the wiring...plugs are different as are color code for some the wires.

Well then thank the #### that I've got the wiring sorted out! No difference in the brake lines, clutch and throttle/idle cables? All this hullabaloo over different stripes on the wires? Hrdly worth getting worked up over but if I order the wrong stuff and find out after I rip the front end apart I'm like to have a damned stroke!

I don't know about the clutch cable but the throttle/idle cables connect to the switch housing differently from '95 to '96.

'95s have screw in cables and '96 doesn't.

Hey! Yeah wires have tons of room left on them to splice in to.... also, if interested I do have a clutch cable, may have a throttle cable, and I have the levers too... if you want or need any of that. Let me know how it goes, and if you have any questions! :)

Probably should have hammered that stuff out when I bought the bars from you eh? Bars are still in Moncton FFS! I need to get going on this.

Hahah, I offered to ship them ;)
I was planning on keeping the cables but they are a couple inches short for my new bars.
