Right on - thanks. Planned on replacing the chain, I'll take a look at a new sprocket too.

Do both sprocket and the chain at the same time if you can, they are all heavy wear items that tend get overlooked. Higher end O-ring chain is recommended.

Thanks. Is there any reason to look at a different tooth count trans sprocket? I believe the stock one is 23 teeth - is going to 24 advisable with an otherwise stock setup?

Yeah it's worn out, Look up a picture of a new one and compare the teeth you'll see it.

A chain sprocket should never have points.

24 tooth will drop you about 150 rpms at any given speed, and you lose a hair of your off the line torque. On my shovel I liked a 23 front and 48 rear combo, still gives you plenty off the line and drops RPMs about 200 or so at highways speeds. Moved my peg and handlebar buzz from 55 to about 65. Does help.

Ok - new sprocket added to the list. (The ever growing list!)

Still need to figure out if the clearance on the shocks to transmission bolts is OK though...

IMO no...you have 89-99 shocks on an 84

If you swap out that tranny bolt for one with a lower profile head it will help.

I will take some pictures of the bump stop extenders I made after work tonight. You loose an inch of suspension travel, but it makes it so you can use these shocks without worrying.

From what I've found dropping the money on a set of works shocks is the only other option for our bikes.....

As you can see I need to redo mine this Winter with a heavier gauge square tube because they are a little bent.....

But basically I just cut two small chunks of 1 inch square tube, bolted the stops to them and bolted the square tube back into the stock bumper location.
