High mileage Electra Glide Sport

Recently purchased a 1991 Electra Glide Sport. The bike was in very good condition and has 78K miles. Its runs super sweet and after all, its a evo motor! With a bike this old and miles, what should be my main concerns keeping this great scoot going!https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...82b75178b2.jpg

Very nice!

Standard issue advice: Give it a full fluid service (motor, primary, trans). Fully flush out the brake lines. Make sure the tire date codes aren't too out of date. Oh, and if you don't already have the Factory Service Manual, get one.

It will probably be pretty weepy from the motor, unless someone has re-gasketed the top end somewhere along the line. Not really a problem unless it bothers you.

What do you know about the bike's history? Any work done? Is the "V2" timing cover on the right side still riveted on?

Welcome to Evoland.

Good maintenance program, fresh fluids in the engine, trans and primary to start, change them according the Harley Manual everyone is going to tell you to get.

When changing your primary fluid, check the primary chain adjustment. Clean the bike real well and that will give you a opportunity to go over every inch of the bike looking for loose items, abnormal wear or missing items.

Items to look for: leaking base gaskets, if they are weeping should live for a while because it usually turns into more money than expected with updates, if they are leaking then it's got to be done.

Take care of it and will take care of you, several owners of that bike on here should be along shortly for more detailed items to look for.

Changed 3 hole oil when got it home, transmission oil was very low. I don`t see and leaks or seeping out of the motor after warmed, so thinking someone kept up the on the maintenance. Bought it from a large dealership in Oregon so don`t have any info on bike history. I don`t think I overpaid for it ($3300) and previous owner installed a new mustang seat and what seems to be new sanson exhaust, sounds great! Tires are Dunlop elite 3 in new condition. All the electrical works well, so far very happy with my purchase. Yes, need to purchase owners manual.

I did not know the Electra Glide Sport came with the fairing and tour pack. Thought it only had a windshield and saddlebags.

The title says "sport", thinking someone added the tour pak and fairing along the way
