Default Michelin Commander II.....

I thought I would try this tire after being a Metzeler fan for decades... The tread is a nice design and the size is a 130-60/19 with a W speed rating front tire. The cost was a $140, not bad I thought.. The fact that it's a 60 series tire made it a little difficult to mount (by hand irons) even with straight car wash soap that I put in a Windex spray bottle.. I was very surprised that It only took 3/4 oz to balance.. So far I've put over 300 miles on it and I must say I really like the ride.. it's very smooth and corners very well.. We'll see how many miles I get out of it.. My odometer started at 69,537.... Just thought I'd share...

Got a set on 88 FLHS, going on 7k and they hardly seem worn. Great handling tire and very good in the rain.

I’ve run Metzler ME 88’s for years, I’m trying the ME 880’s this go round. I don’t think they’re quite as sticky as the 88’s.
I usually get 7-8k miles on a rear ME88, it’ll be interesting to see what the 880 delivers.

A big fan of the Commander II. I got 15K on the last rear tire on the '89 FLHTC.

I won't do much better I don't think, my 77 FX shovelhead has an 880 on the rear and I can't believe it's already almost done. it was practically brand new when I bought the bike and that was only 3 years and 4,000 mi ago. I don't beat that bike either..

This Is what I'm hoping to achieve. I'm starting to get tired of replacing tires. I have also heard this pretty often, 12 to 15,000 miles.. we'll see...

I put them on the 2009 RK I had before this bike. I wrecked that bike so I wasn't able to see how many mIles I'd get out of them. I will say one thing though, they stick to the road very well when it's raining. I was impressed.

Put a rear on 3/18. All miles with the hack, it squared off, like any other tire would. Replaced a hand me down Dumlap with a new front Commander in May this year. I've used a lot of Metzlers, but the new 888s were a disappointment. I've had the hack off for a couple of months and I like the handling as well as wet road sticking.

(Note to Graham: I put Avons on the Springer Softail!)

You only gave us half the story. What are you running upfront? (This could have an influence on the handling characteristics of the bike.)

The 130-60/19 is on the front.. I only had to replace the front to pass inspection.. the rear is a Metzeler 888.. No issues at all with the mismatch.. The Michelin Feels great..

At a riding buddies suggestion, I put a set on my 97' last year and have put almost 3,000 miles on them. They ride and handle great. Very happy with them and they were cheaper than the Harley Dunlops. G.B.
