Default Deleting gauges

Question for you guys, I have an '86 fxr with the speedo and tach mounted on the bars and I would like to fully delete both of them. How have you guys gone about this? Asking only because I don't want to just hack it apart and would like to do it as clean as possible.

I'm interested to see the replies you get.
I have an '84 FXR and considering a Gauge-Delete as well.
I was thinking about labeling the wires, disconnecting the wires from the tach and speedo, and then tacking them away out of plain sight.
I also thought about deleting the stock gauges but replacing the speedo with an after market, mini speedo.

I`m not a boomer purist (whatever the hell that is) so here is my opinion:

Unbolt the gauges and toss them into the trash, cut the wires with dykes, tape the wire ends and cram them out of sight.

Older folks= "boomer purist"
He's obviously a "younger gun" , with wise cracks. At the least he tried to be polite about it.

I didn't have the heart to tell him that the only things still OEM on the bike besides the gauges are the tins and the frame because that might have induced a stroke.
