speedometer cable doesn't match.
Hello gentlemen.
I' m running 1991 softail. Recently, I changed my front wheel with the older used wheel of harley . maybe that of shovelhead?? Now, the problem is, my speedometer system doesn't match this wheel. I don't have any knowledge about this wheel. Anyone would give me advice I must follow to install speedo cable system? Here are pictures of the wheel . Thanks for any answer in advance. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...8c4bb3a948.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...ec54ee5595.jpg |
That" Star Hub" wheel came off an older bike with the speedo driven from the transmission
Therefore, there is no provision for a speedo drive |
And there is your answer.

Therefore, there is no provision for a speedo drive I think there is no other way but change the wheel to "modern" one. I can install 16" evo front wheels before 1996 to my ride? I was told the speedos chagned electric after 1997. If I' wrong, correct me. thanks. |

For instance , first year (` 94 ) Road Kings had electronic speedometers, other models did not switch till later You need to spend some hours on Ronnies Parts Finder deciphering the various parts numbers Or put a GPS on your handlebars and run what you have |

I''m leaning to FL softail models since mine is FXSTS model. There are also variations among Evo FL softail models due to the years? I ve found this wheel on Ebay I'm cautious though. https://www.ebay.com/itm/126264160329 This will fit? |
Member Multihdrdr is the wheel fitment guru here, I suggest asking him Heritage had a cable drive through `95 , that wheel p/n is 43005-86 My worry is that exploded view of the wheel doesn`t show the speedo drive unit. I admit I do not know |
That FLST wheel Should work on any Softail...In Fact...I have one on a 4 speed FLH
Spacers May need to be Made!! Special Note...Springer Softail Front Wheels are laced Offset..Take Heed and Caution |
