Default Adding topout spring

1988 FLHTC, wanting to lower the forks just a bit, going to add an additional topout spring (stock length) is my thinking correct, this would increase the current preload of the stock spring?

Never thought of that, which end? The tight wound or the regular wound side?

Just the length of an extra topout spring, I'd guesstimate about 1.25 inches, my concern is how much it will change the preload of the forks (all stock)

I would not use part of the main spring for an additional top out spring. For 1 when you cut it, the cut side is not flat. It can **** and drag in the fork tube. You can get away with using a cut main by placing the cut side on fork cap side where it doesn't slide.

I have some 1" fork lowering spacers for the damper tubes I haven't used yet, don't remember where I got them.
Pro Action has some I see, don't think I paid near that much, hey Max can make you some.

Right, if you don't cut springs.
The old air ride springs are soft, might work out not cutting them and run less air, especially with the 1" less travel, that experiment could have that job being done twice though, the price you have to pay to know.

Is this a setscrew?, maybe to keep it in position for an oil hole? The ones I have don't have that, might be better than floating around even if there's no oil hole to cover.
