Won't Start

Was ridein when the bike quit running. The battery has 12.8 volts the horn and turn indicators work. The head light does not come on when the switch is on. With the switch on everything works but the headlight and it will not start.......Any help would be great....

given a very small amount of info.
i will take a guess that it is a carb 95 roadking with about 30-50 thousand miles.
1-is battery less than 4 years old? you could have enough voltage but not enough amps due to dead cell.
2-since it died while riding, you have no headlight and it will not turn over..it would lead me to be electrical..are battery posts solid/tight? is the negative lead to frame good/clean/tight?...make sure to double check entire length of ground cable.
*I would think it was the battery or its connections unless you have added or removed something on bike resciently.

- check the few circuit breakers (and their connections).

- check the connections to the battery's posts.

- check the earthing.

- your model would not have fuses , iirc.

My sled just did that same exact thing. come to find out I never checked the battery. Sitting there it was almost 12V. Pulled the caps off the tops and all the cell tops were dry. Filled them back up, got a jump and on my way I went.

if all power was lost, the first thing to check is the main circuit breaker. any auto parts store should have a replacement. the last one i bought was about $8.

That would be my guess. Been there, walked home....

Can't hurt to the look at your ignition switch wiring . Same thing happened to me a few weeks ago . Connector at the switch had broken .
