Hey Guys (Here's the Newbie Again) :icon_denk:
Having a problem (what else is new Schooner) finding a medallion for my 1985 H-D Electra Glide Classic Tour Pak :icon_smash: I got the idea of getting a H-D Belt Buckle and tweeking it to fit. The question is: What do I use to STICK the (Belt Bucket or Medallion) on to my Tour Pak ? Below is the belt buckle that I was thinking of tweeking; but let me listen to what you guys are thinking |
Schooner, it's your bike so personalize any way you want. I think it will look great, if the buckle does not have too much curve to it. Many people before you have done stuff like this and it came out well with a little planning and ingenuity. Be sure to post before and after pictures and enjoy your ride.

I think it would look good, guess I'd go to home depot or such and read the labels on adhesives for the best fit.

I would use some 3M VHB tape. That's what the MoCo uses to attach things like the net organizer thingie inside the top of the tour pack. It's some killer stuff. My notes say:
3M tape #4611 part number 7201A13 at McMaster.com I used a roll of it putting the body panels on the car I'm building. I understand that 18 wheeler trailers use it to hold the sides on, as well as motor homes. If you can't find any local, let me look in the shop as I think I still have a little left and I'll mail you a few inches of it. |

As the Dr said 3m two sided tape. They used that same emblem in 86 & 87 on the gas tanks and tour pacs. I would be a little concerned with weight of a belt buckle. Also will it rust? With the vibrations the tour pac gets it could fall off. I have one off a wreck. It's a little scratched and not really nice enough to use. The gold on the Harley Davidson is worn off. HD or JP probably sells them new with the adhesive already on it.

They sell these self-adhesive emblems at the dealer also.
