Rim question

I'm picking up a '96 Bad Boy next week. I'd like to do spoke rims front and rear.

If I go to an 18" rim in the rear what width do I need? Axle size?

If I stay at 16" will this rim fit?

What a can of worms!!! Ratios change and what not with rear tire changes. Someone else who is smarter than me on this stuff may fill you in,:)

Just found these:

If I change out the front rim is there anything I need to be aware of considering the springer forks?

Is the stock front on a '96 a 19 or 21? Sorry for all the questions, the bike is out of state so i haven't had a chance to look for myself.

I'm not concerned with the ratios just yet. I just want to know about width and axle issues by switching them out. I'll deal with the tires later!!!

If you are working with a stock factory frame and front forks you should have no problem with fitting the new rims/hub package using the original spacers and axles...However, you need to find out if what you are replacing is stock!!!!

Big time congrats on the Fat Boy. It's one of my top 3 favorite bikes that HD ever produced. Outstanding machine!

If I had a Bad Boy, the Black King Spokes are the only wheels that would be in my consideration. IMO, nothing would look better. King Spokes are fairly new to the market and I've only put about 1800 miles on mine so far. But at this point I'm very impressed with them. Fitment for me was a breeze. It don't matter whether you go with an 18" or 16" on the rear, your stock axle works on either being that they have the same hub. Because of the different outer diameter of a 16" vs. 18", it may throw your speedo off a few MPH, big deal. You may want to slightly modify the spacers to center the tire under your rear fender. But I'd first just try the stock spacers to see how it looks. I believe the stock front wheel is a 21", but hopefully somebody can confirm this. They seem to be awesome wheels at a great price. You can read more about my opinion & experience with King Spokes on this thread: https://www.hdforums.com/forum/evo-c...by-ultima.html

Best of all, rather than dropping $800 plus on eBay, you can get them for under $500 shipped if you buy them from Jireh: http://www.jirehcycles.com/

I'll be looking forward to seeing pics of your new ride posted soon http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a1...1/thumbsup.gif

Enjoy!
