89 Heritage, I believe stock clutch.
I went out for a test ride on my wifes bike and I was finding the clutch was still slipping when I hit the throttle hard even in 5th gear doing 100kph, this was after I adjusted the clutch out 3/4 turn counter clockwise and locking it.
She has one of those easy clutch attached and I was thinking maybe it was causing an issue so I loosened the cable off at the adjuster enough so there was 3/4 inch play at the bar just to make sure when I let clutch out there was no way it could still be engaging, no differnce.
I'm running ATF in the primary. I know there is suppose to be an adjustment that can be made on the clutch spring with the 3 nuts, does this sound like an adjustment problem or more like worn out plates?
Bike has 35000 kilometers on it but who knows how the previous owner road it, I know we do 80% hiway riding.
If its holding until you put some coals to it. Its most likely the spring. You'll know for sure when you take it down. If friction discs and plates are good.
I hear you Graham, bsa and triumph just has a small screw on cap.
Well I was able to do the job through the derby cover without a problem.
It was set to B so I automaticly went to C and its much better.
I can see me ordering up a Barnet kit for it real soon. I also took the easy clutch out , lets see if she notices. I had read somewhere that they cause a drag on the clutch, who knows.

They do! I had one for a while. If Mrs RME does notice, get her a Diamondback clutch cable. Mine is so smooth now I took out the Clutchlite I had in it. All those devices work by reducing the lift, so when pulling the lever to the handlebar, the clutch pushrod doesn't move as far as stock. It makes adjustment more critical and I found it impossible to get rid of drag.
I also have a set of Barnett kevlar plates waiting to go in, the extra 9-plate set. I hear they improve action and selecting neutral.
