Default Powder coating exhaust tip

Bought a new to me 14 street glide special. Road it 670 mls home and lost the tip and baffle out of one of the cobra 3" mufflers. I want to switch to a black tip of some sort. But no luck finding one that will fit a 3". They are all 3.5 or 4". After calling cobra there is no option besides the chrome tip that comes with the attached baffle for 100$ shipped. My options are to order the new tip and powder coat them. But not sure what kind of heat the tips are producing. So does anyone have any ideas on temp??? Powder coater said 200 degrees is the max and he wouldn't guarantee his work at that temp. Other option is 2 buy new mufflers that have a black tip. Planning on buying heads and leaving a chrome muffler with black tips. Trying to save some money by not buying the mufflers. Any ideas or options out there anyone can think of???? Thnx

Not sure if your powder guy is talking farenheit or celsius, but powder can typically handle at least 100 F above cure temps, which are typically 380-400 degrees. Even PC'ing heat shields isn't a problem as long as your bike isn't overly lean. Your tips will never see that temp and PC will work fine.

Thnx guys. I think I might go ahead and get a different set. Thinking rineharts 4" slip ons and trying to figure out the headers. Maybe V&H cross over or the power duals or the dresser duals. Trying to figure it out. Any wisdom to pass along?

I Picked Up A '15 Ultra Limited In July And Threw On A Set Of Rush True Duals (And 4" Big LoUies). The TD's Are Awesome.....Ceramic Coated, 12 & 18 M O2 Bungs And Fit And Finish Is Amazing. Combine This With Their Awesome Price And Rush's Legendary Customer Service And You Have A Winner. I Highly Recommend Them. The Big Louies Sound Great Bolted Up To The True Duals.

Have the cobra tips ceramic coated black if you want to keep them...Use the saved money on your head pipes and/or tuner. All black exhaust systems are ceramic coated as it will handle the heat that powder will not.
