Default Use AVGAS? 100 octane

The closest gas station to my house has 100 octane avgas. Anyone know if that is ok to run in my 06 softail?

Thanks

Default RE: 95 or so. Use or AVGAS? 100 octane

Is it Av gas or 100 octane gas?

Avgas sucks for vehicles....especially if it is leaded fuel....everyone thinks its great...it isn't.

If it's 100 octane gasoline then yes you can use it but why? Do you have a high compression motor?

If you're stock then you won't benefit and might even lose performance with 100 octane.

The pump reads AVGAS 100 octane. I get a ping once in awhile with the V power 93 octane when held up in traffic here in florida. Only when she gets hot though. I thought perhaps this could cure the occaisional ping. I may however be running a hair lean since I have the stage 1 air ckeaner & Rush pipes with the HD remap. Perhaps a power commander may be good solution?

Thanks

Even though we do share the "air cooled" "low RPM" trait as what most engines avfuel will be used in.We do not share thealtitudeor ambient temperatures that said airplane will fly at.

It won't hurt your machine, but there are better options out there.

!00 AvGas also has a lead content about 4 times that of the old "Regular" gas we remember. In the small airplanes I flew, they were susceptible to plug fouling due to lead content. This may be a consideration before running it in your bike. Also, it will burn slower in your bike. You will get less fuel mileage if you run it in a lower compression motor than 100 needs.
It will run, and you will get less pinging, but at a cost. It will however, make your exhaust smell really cool!

Sounds like you are a better candidate for a can of octane boost than av gas.

My .02 cents.

Your bike has a compression ratio of 8.8 to 1. You shouldn't even need 93 octane. You're carboned up or need another remap.

Somewhere in these threads someone gave a great account of av gas, keep checking.

Just out of curiosity, ask the station who the buyers are for this gas and their applications. Seems ridiculous to sell this at a car stop.

mostlikeley its not real avgas
Most avgas has 110 octane rating or better.
