Default Anyone ever put a light wrap under their Heat Shields

I'm just to switch my head pipe out of my 2010 Ultra, and install a decatted one on. . I was thinking of putting a light wrap specifically around the front pipe, still install the heat shield, to help keep down the heat. Not sure if there is room for it.

I'm thinking maybe the air gap between the pipe and heat shield is designed to do that ??? Maybe I'm barking up a tree here.

Any done this?.

It will make your header rot away and disappear.

They are known to trap and hold water.

BEST, to Tune and aftermarket header of choice.

The air gap is there to help keep direct heat off the heat shield. Be careful if you wrap them I've had to weld my headpipe on the front cylinder back together.

I think you're wasting your time and money.
