Default Question about slip on's

Hi all I have a 1990 hd 883. It was a one owner bike with 10k all stock. I got a set of screaming eagle slip on mufflers with the baffles in them. I have been riding the bike for about 600 miles and the only thing done to the carb was a cleaning and it seems to run good. Recently I pulled the baffles out to make it a little louder even though it is loud as it is which I couldn't believe with just slip on's. Anyway I went for a ride the other night with the pipes open and it seemed like it was lugging pretty bad almost like a skip while driving down the road I figured I was in the wrong gear but it seem like no gear made it go away I can only contribute this to the muffler's so I put the baffles back in but I have not tested it again my question is with just the screaming Eagle 2 slip on mufflers with the baffles in should I reject the bike and if I decided to remove the baffles to make it even louder what would you all recommend I rejet the bike to. I really do not have any idea what size the Jets are that in their bike at the moment I am assuming it is factory because I have all the paperwork and service history ever done and nothing about jet kit. Thanks all

Leave the baffles in. Taking them out will result in a loss of low end torque which you felt when riding the bike. The 883 doesn't need any help losing power as there is not much to be had in the first place...

You can remove the baffles and try a set of DK Custom TTI's. (Thunder Torque Inserts). You will get louder pipes without a loss of reversion. It's worth a try since they cost about $30.

This should give you more sound and performance if the SE2 slipons you have are still using the stock core that they came with.
