V&H big radius possibilty to refinish ?
Hi all,
I recently installed the big radius 2-2 on my FXSB but I'm not keen on how they look all together with the chrome on the bike.
I was considering to get the heatshields chromed in blackchrome but the price quote I got from the chrome shop is rediculous high, they want 320 USD for it and I need to remove the current finish myself.
Are there members here that got there V&H heatshields finished with powdercoating in gloss black ? and is this a good finish for the shields ?

I have used high temp paint from a spraycan before on my Can Am exhaust and I must say that I'm not convinced from the durability and scratch resistant.
Also the choise we have in that paint from a can is very limited overhere, we have a brand called Motip and they are mat finish as far I now.
For that reason I was thinking on blackchrome but for the price they give me and the waiting time for at least 3 months is retarded.
The alternative was powdercoating for me. If I recall it correctly I saw a picture from another member here on the forum who did this to is exhaust on a FXSB but I couldn't find the post anymore.

Be aware that chrome is pain in the *** to paint, you have to remove the chrome with electrolising or at least treat it. I done this before with a product called "zoutzuur" I presume in English it called chlorid accid but I'm not sure.

I have the Big Radius 2 into 2 with the Black finish. Just got a quote to have them powder coated. Still going to keep the same color so no need to remove chrome.
They are doing everything for $25 per shield.
In my signature the Powrflo Intake cover was chrome. They removed the chrome and redid them in the Denim Black. They did both sides of the cover for $35.
Did this as a test to see how they would look. Now am going to do the exhaust and some of the engine covers.

Thanks for the info,
Another member of the forum had his exhaust done with powdercoat, after talking with him I was convinced.
Yesterday I deliverd the covers at the powdercoater. They will charge me $80 for the 4 cover pieces. They need about 14 days to get them done because the had allot of work.
