I put a set of Reinhart slipons on my XL 1200T Sporty. It seems to have gained some bottom end. Looking in the stock mufflers there is a cone shaped screen, which I assume is the CAT. Looking in the Reinharts they are straight thru, no cat, but where is the baffle. The inside pipe has raised perferations. Would this be the baffle? Parts guy at dealer said the Slipons do not require a retune. Is this right? And finally would changing from stock to Reinharts vpid the warranty? Thanks for any info.

 

Yes, the louvers in your mufflers are your baffles. On the new bikes HD is claiming your warranty will be voided if you change the mufflers. Last, I don't care what the dealer or anyone else says, your bike even in stock form will benefit from a proper tune. Changing mufflers will lean your lean bike out, the computer will compensate you back to the already lean A/F and your bike will run hot and pop a lot. Get your bike tuned if changing anything on the exhaust...
