Thanks man that’s what I kinda thought... but I see people mention other people’s baffles and then using the wavy discs. Gets confusing. Haha!

Check out this chart:

Here's a sound clip of 5 different bikes:

Also, here's a video with Stock exhaust:

And how about a review submitted by a customer on our Thunder Torque Inserts™ that can be found on the website:

Best money I've ever spent. -Review by Brad
"I put the W158's on my '02 Shadow VT1100 in about 30 minutes (had to drill holes), and I IMMEDIATELY felt a difference. The previous owner had taken a holesaw to the baffles and I've been trying to get the engine dialed in since I bought it. The bike sounds a lot better, it got rid of the hollow, twangy, metallic sound and now has a deep, warm grumble. I can feel a HUGE difference in torque all the way up the rev range and I actually get pushed into the seat now. All in all these are a great buy."

The Thunder Torque Inserts™ absolutely work.

They can be used with or without baffles. However, we do usually suggest removing the baffles as this will get you the most optimal results.

Best possible exhaust mod when comparing results per dollar spent(29.95).

Here's a LINK to our TTIs.

Happy to answer any questions there may be.

I know the op seems to be referring to the exhaust inserts and the replies support that. But what are the torque cones and what benefit are they?
They install at the exhaust port where the header meets the cylinder .
If they function the same I'd prefer that over drilling through my exhaust.

Torque Cones are different than Thunder Torque Inserts™.

All the testing we have done on torque cones (prior to working on and developing the TTI's) showed no measurable increase in torque. It is an idea that has been around a long time, and there may be instances where there is some benefit.

With TTI's 90% of the time you do not have to drill a hole in your muffler body, just use the same hole that already exists to secure your baffle. Those that do need to drill a hole will find it is an easy task.

A bit more info....

Torque cones are installed where the header meets the head and have little to no effect on reducing torque robbing reversion.

TTI's install at the end of the muffler/slip-on, and eliminate most, if not all, reversion.

Yes, they do help with low end torque loss. I had them in my Bassani DNT's, and they definitely helped. However, I ended up going to 4" Rineharts and they made a huge difference in tune-ability. The TTI's are the best, cheapest solution though.

Do you know if there are any Sportsters that came without baffles? My 07 Nightster doesn't appear to have any baffles, but also doesn't appear to be molested in any way either. It also doesnt really sound as lope(y) as the Sportster without baffles in the video. Any thoughts?

All Sportys come from the factory with baffles.

Looking at some pics in your album...those do not look like the factory slip-ons that came on the Nightster.

They do look like later model factory slip-ons...but they may have been gutted.

If you can take a photo, with a flash, looking up the end of the pipe, that would help tell what is in there.

Finally got a chance to get to the bike, as its in storage right now. Looked again and there is definitively baffles in there. Guess I wasn't paying enough attention.

Thanks for the input regarding the slip-ons. There is no branding anywhere on them but they do sound louder than other Sportsters I've heard. Which is partially what made me think they were baffle-less.
