Is the M8 result in quieter exhaust?

Two very different motors with completely different exhaust systems. True duals by nature are louder as they individualize the firing and you get that pop or potato/potato sound. Pipe with cross-over smooths out those pulses as well as the sound waves, quieter/smoother sound.

Thanks TwiZed. I am not looking for that potato potato sound per say. I respectfully disagree about chasing after a 1984 sound. I don't know what that sound is exactly to compare. My 2010 96 CI sounded awesome to my hears. It sounded like a mean muscle car. I actually liked the sound because it didn't sound like a typical Harley.

I just put a D&D Billiet Cat on my 2018 Street Glide with the stage 2 and it sounds good under throttle but is muted at idle and when letting off the throttle. I know i'll never get the sound of a shovel, evo or tc for that matter ever again. I like the D&D just wish it was a little louder on decel is all.

So correct. The M8 is a single cam, four valve per cylinder motor. Yes I have a 2018 Ultra Limited. You can make it louder by removing the catalytic converter and true duals from the cylinder heads back but the M8 killed that classic sound. On a good point, the Ultra Limited is the most enjoyable bike I have ever owned.
