Default Exhaust blemish (causes)

Anyone know what would cause this. I just put these pipes on and I have about 600 miles on them. It just started showing about 400 miles and now its getting worse. Bassani radial sweepers on a 93 sporty.

Looks like you didn't wipe them down with a good cleaner before firing the bike up.

no I didn't. The instructions just said to fire up the bike for about 30 sec to a minute then let cool. Wash rinse repeat about 3 or four times to break them in. They should have been cleaned at the factory ready for use. The wierd part is it's only in the center of the pipe and a very minute bit at the head.

Even if they were "cleaned" at the factory, you used your greasy hands to install them.

I used a cloth to wipe them down. I didnt have a solution to use on them. At any rate if that was the cause of the problem it should have showed right away and it would be more of the pipe and not just one spot I would think. It's happening right after the bend in the pipe. Thanks for the input.

Heat is what is causing it. "Straw" color is on it's way to becoming blue. Jetted lean is it?

X2, running lean creates a lot more heat and can blue them up quick.
Get your jetting right and she should even run better.

its definitely heat. It's just wierd I've never seen it start to turn so far down the pipe. The rear pipe is showing more extrem than the front pipe. I should have taken her and gotten her tuned as soon as I put the pipes on. The only reason I refrained was because I had it turned when I first got the bike and it had the really short pipes in it. Kind of like hukkah pipes. I bought the bassani's and let the mechanic know and he said it will probably run better with the longer pipes due to better back pressure. So I didnt take it in. I see now that was a mistake on my part . Thanks again for the advice.
