Default Advice on how to clean this

Hey all I'm looking for some ideas on the best way to clean the gunk off of these pipes, I think it's rubber from my boots mixed with some caked on stuff from sitting in a barn for years.

Thanks

I have no personal experience, but have read where some people claim Easy-Off oven cleaner, put on cold pipes, helps.

0000 Steel Wool, and WD40. If it’s really caked on lay rag soaked in WD40 on it. Make sure it’s 0000 nothing less. This method beats all others.

If its really built up- try and scrape some of it off with a blade or razor- try not to nick your pipes. Then you can soak it with detergent or some people on here like to use wd40. Then you can get scrubbing with #0000 steel wool (which you can get at many hardware stores). I was skeptical too- but that grade steel wool doesnt scratch chrome.

Yep. I do have experience with this, and it works. However, there are some important suggestions.

Do NOT apply to hot pipes. Do NOT leave it on the pipes overnight. Don't ask me how I know these things...

I use the "cold" version (blue can).

Spray it on, leave it for 15-30 minutes, wipe off, repeat as necessary.

I have used the wd40 with steel wool and I have also used the flat edge of a nickel with some chrome polish, both worked very well with no scratches.

You could try lacquer thinner or acetone but DO NOT get any on your paint. I've also used Easy-Off oven cleaner but most folks shriek at the thought for some reason.

Bar Keepers Friend, My rain boot and rain pants melted on my pipes, I made a paste and rub rub rub. My pipes are coated by Jet-Hot and it worked for me.
