Funny... I thought they sounded better after the cat was removed but I may be thinking of a different setup.

Yah, I heard some sound bytes on Videos, and read a lot of threads talking about how awful they sound without the cat. But I only have 2 - 3 months left of riding before winter so even if I didn't like the sound I could deal with it for a few months then swap them out for other slip ons in the winter. If I put it on will let you know how it sounds, post a video..
