Default Tune after swapping out stock exhaust?

I searched the forums for a thread similar to this (there must be one) but could not find it. I own a 2008 FXDL and it has the stock pipes. I intend on swapping them out for a set of Screamin' Eagle pipes and wanted to know if I need to retune the bike after the swap. If it was carburated, I'd think so but considering it's ESPFI, I question whether or not it would need to be retuned.

Thanks in advance for any feedback.
any assistance is appreciated.

My vote would be to get a Tuner, read here for more opinions as this is a frequent question https://www.hdforums.com/forum/touri...necessary.html

I added a pair of Rinehart slipon's to my 2017 street bob and tuned it with the VH FP3 and I feel (and hear) the bike running better. I personally say tune it.

Two reasons to tune it: one to compensate for the change of exhaust, the other to tune it to optimum fuelling etc, instead of EPA levels.

Short answer
YES
Your dealer can install a stage 1 tune in 15 minutes
Also think about a high flow air filter

From my experience with EFI-normally a retune is only needed if you change the system to progressive stages or change the fuel mixture in any way. But not so much for a pipe change. It won't hurt to do it but it's not really needed if you're just changing pipes. The EFI should adjust to the slight change in exhaust flow. For Carbed bikes you most likely will need a different needle in the carb to change the flow.

yes, the bike needs to be tuned. period.
the quality of the tuner(the person) and the product(unit used for calibration) combined will be the difference between a bike that just runs ok, and one the runs properly.

If you just change slipons, no. If you also change headers, yes!
