Default S&S 2 into 1 mod

I made this to stop my S&S pipe from resonating at cruising speed. Much deeper tone now. Cost $3.59 at Advance Auto. It is a 2 1/4 od to 2 id adaptor. Now that I know it works, I may make one out of stainless.

Cut the sides to make mounting flanges and bolt on using the db reducer screws. I left the db reducer out.

Imaginative! How about just painting it black?

The main reason I may go with stainless is to protect the S&S aluminum tip. I don't know if the steel will cause corrosion. Wonder if black exhaust paint would hold up? It would hardly be noticable if it was black.

I was thinking out loud! It would certainly be less obvious if black and a can of suitable heat-resistant paint might be worth a try. Just a thought!

That is about the same thing as the tunable inserts I got for the Jackpot Hi-Roller mufflers. They had a hole in the larger end (on the side) and came with a bolt. You drill a small hole in the perforated muffler core and bolt it in. I set it back in the muffler a few inches so if you want to see it you need to look inside the muffler. I have no idea what the inside of your muffler looks like, but if you wanted to completely hide it ...

Like Sir Graham said above. I just painted mine black with whatever spray-bomb I had laying around. They are still back. If not certainly some BBQ or header paint will hold up, but I don't think these get all that hot.

The reason this works is because it sticks out a little past the bell shaped S&S tip. The tip acts like a megaphone. It was too loud and I didn't especially care for the sound. This sounds really good, and I did not modify the muffler at all. I did not experiment very much, it may work if it was flush.
