Default After installing exhaust

So Ive been wanting to install some power duals on my 14 Limited for awhile now. Just looking for a good deal on a chrome set.

My question is, for those of you who have traveled this road, after I buy the exhaust and put them on, can I drive it to where i need to get it tuned? I mean I was told that if you install exhaust that it is necessary to get the system tuned. Im not sure I can afford both the exhaust and the tuner. (some Dyno-tune thing)

I am a complete newbie to this kind of thing so if Im messing up the verbage, my apologies.

Thanks.

If all you’re doing is the exhaust, it really isn’t necessary to get it tuned. The computer will adjust to an exhaust only change. As you make more changes, a tuner and professional tune will be a smart investment.

Thanks for the reply. I put V&H Twin SLash slip ons on last year was hoping the Power DUals would get me a small HP boost. Would it without a tune, would I notice a difference?

Maybe a sound difference, very minimal HP/TQ. Get your money together and finish the stage 1 when you can, new high flow A/C and a tuner. That will be the start of good things to come.

Ride safe!

OK sounds good. So what parts are needed for a complete stage 1 kit? Does it have to be SE parts? Can you piece together different brand parts to achieve an efficient stage 1 upgrade?

Nevermind. Im looking at the V&H FuelPak3 and the Crush Street Sleeper III A/C kit. Would that along with the V&H slips ons I have be considered a full Stage 1 upgrade?

I liked my FP3 on my slim until I did cams....I bought my power vision from Fuel moto for my street glide an I have a Fuel Moto air intake an that bike runs great with the tune from FM that came in the tuner. If you buy the stage one at once from FM you get a discount on the package deal. I also had good results with intakes from DK customs.

every person that told you that you will not need to have your bike tuned is absolutely incorrect, or should i say WRONG. yes you will probably be able to ride it to the tuning shop as long as it's not like 200 miles or something, but the bike will need tuning, and even more so if you add the air cleaner into the mix. The system you are going to install has flow characteristics that are out of the range of what the ecm can fully correct for. yes the bike will run. but it will not run as well as your investment calls for. do the job correctly and get it tuned by a knowledgeable professional.
the V&H power dual exhaust system with the x crossover header and no catalytic converter is the system that your OP leads me to believe you are wanting to install, not just a set of slip ons. if you are just talking about slip ons, you may or not be ok, but with the full system you need to be tuned.
