2018 M8 Options
I just bought a 2018 Road Glide with 2300 miles. The original owner installed V&H Hi Output slip ons but left the stock head pipe with cat. I can't believe the heat that comes off head pipes. I have a 2010 96ci with a Rhinehart True Duals complete system and never had a heat issue. I like the sound of the new bike, but would like to cut down on the heat. From reading other threads, it seems like alone tuner might help this issue. Should I do a tuner first, header wrap or just duals and a tuner? I know everyone has a different opinion. Just don't want to buy something that won't change much. Thanks

So all slip ons (i.e. S & S MK45 & Grand Nationals) that are EPA compliant will not void warranty?

As long as you don't change the headpipes (where the Cat is on the factory system), you can run any muffler you want. You will still have a lot of heat on your right calf, and your passenger will have it on the bottom of their right foot. If you get one of the systems with the Cat in the mufflers, you move that heat farther back on the bike.

The only tuner allowed for warranty is the HD tuner, period. Technically the only Slip-On mufflers that HD approves of is the SE muffs. Doesn’t matter if the aftermarket muffs are epa compliant, HD didn’t approve that product for use on their bikes. The dealer may bend the rules a bit, but if they get caught, big trouble. There are some rumors around that HD will tighten warranty rules to maximize profit on their parts, and deny warranty claims saving money on both ends.
