Is anyone using their stock exhaust system with a big bore kit and 37 Andrews cam on a Road King or Dresser. I am thinking of it for the sleeper factor. I also have some Vance and Hines Big Shots. How would either of these work. I know a 2 into 1 would be the best choice however, budget restraints prevent them at this time. Any helpful replys would be appreciated.

 

Should work just fine! the stock system is a 1 3/4 head pipe, like most aftermarket pipes are, no problems there.

some slip on mufflers might help the torque abit.

 

The exhaust system makes or breaks a build. If you use the 37 and 95' with stock exhaust your leaving 10 to 15 ponies on the table.

 

I'm using stock head pipes with Samson rolled thunder slip ons. 95", SE performer heads, Andrews TW 37b chain drives, PC III etc.. had the bike dynoed came in at 89.4 hp and 99.97 tq. DR.DYNO tuned it. Stock head pipes with good slip ons or 2-1 system is best. Everything that you can read about says you need some kind of crossover pipe or as a 2-1 pipe something that links the pipes together. If you going for top end different story. Just my 2 cents.

 

Well, my 95 in, upgrade and TW 37 are up and running with the stock exhaust system. Sure like the quiet but I am hearing a little more valvetrain noise. Lots of low end torque up to 3000 rpm. Only 68 miles so I'm keeping the R's down for a while. Have some modified stock mufflers from a fuel injected bike that I will try next. rkc05, I'm hoping for hp and torque numbers as good as yours.

67xlch, I hope you get enough to make you happy. I had a 95" TW37 build in my 06 Ultra, didn't have the head ported... big mistake. To me the sucker was a pooch on the bottom end. I messed around with factory head pipes and SE mufflers and then a Supertrapp Supermeg, it was still a pooch on the bottom. I threw in the towel pulled the cams and tossed them in the box and placed it on the shelf in the garage. I did a Head Quarters build with their ported heads ad 0039 cams which is what I wish I had done in the 1st place.

 

Travis ~ if you like the way it rides, that's all that matters. Do not get caught up in numbers. You will end up bumm'n when you may have been happy based on the ride.

I can pretty safely tell you that with stock heads and compression, you will not see those numbers. I'd think more like 80hp & 88~90ft/lbs after a good tune.
