The 211 is a great CAM for a 103 engine with free flowing heads. Last 07 RG I had made 104 HP and 105 FT torque using Lozano Brothers Porting heads, SE 103 flat top pistons, D&D 2 into 1 Fat Cat exhaust. In a touring bike if you want to be able to grab the throttle and pass a Semi at 70 MPH then the 211 is your cam. But you need some head work to go with that cam.

I traded that RG in on a 09 Ultra three weeks ago. We are experimenting with cams at this moment. I have SE 260 in it with SE MVA 110+ heads. These cams came in the kit. It dyno at 105 HP and 104 FT LBS torque after I plug my secret MAP file in that Lozano Brothers Porting and me worked out. It has no low end or mid range torque, All the power comes in to play at 4000 RPM's plus. Hold on when you get their. You would think your not on a 800 LB plus machine. But that's not where I do my riding.

With the wife on the back, crusing the Texas hill country, six gear, cruise on, 70 MPH, the bike is respectable climbing hills. Gas mileage sucks, luckly it is 1.69 a gallon here.

Hence, we are installing the 211's big brother which is the 251. This cam will rock in this set up. Its all about duration, duration, duration. Since Crane makes the HD cams you can find out much more on the Crane website then HD's.

I agree. The 21G runs out of steam way too soon for me. I guess they might be ok with 3:15 gearing, but not with my 3:37 gearing.

What is the average cost of a cam upgrade if the dealer or an independent does the work? I am thinking about doing somethings on my 06 Streetglide and am on the " I've got a family to feed budget". Already did the pipes, power commander and air filter.

All depends on what the hourly rate is at the shop, but should be able to do just a cam swap for < $800 including the cam, lifters and adjustable pushrods.

DIY for about $500 including lifters and staying with the stock pushrods, adjustables will add another $100 or so.

You will need a retune in both cases.

CAM upgrade complete, bike runs great!

Now at higher RPMs I have more pull less vibration. They did a before and after Dyno and I got another 10ft lbs. At the bottom the torque is only about 2 lbs higher then the before curve and about 10ft lbs at 3300.

I stayed with SE to keep my warranty good

I imagine I am good to go for awhile, eventually get a six speed SE touring bike!

I can not remember the last time I was so satisfied after blowing a bunch of money, well there was that time in Amsterdam!

See ya!

Glad it turned out good for you. Which cam did you end up going with and did you do anything else?

I just paid $1275 for the 211, SE RT and before and after Dyno. Abot 20% below what the charge in warmer riding months.
I stuck with SE becuase I wanted to keep my warranty alive.

I already had V&H slash cut slip ons and a SE Stage I intake.

First I thought about a 103 big build but a lot of money for what you get I thingk, so then I compared the 96 heads to the cam upgrade and the cams upgrade seemed to be the biggest bang for the buck.
