Default Exhaust Leak!!!

I just put a set of vance and hines oval slip ons on my 2008 Street Glide. I can not get the clamps tight enough to stop the exhaust leaks on both mufflers. Is this normal and if not how do I fix the problem?

Do the clamps that shipped with the V&H,mufflers look like this?
If not, purchase new
H-D Torca clamps: 65283-94 and torque to 45-60 FT. LBS.

Just reuse the clamps from the stock mufflers............they work fine. Tighten them up real good and you should be fine.

I had the same problem with my V&H Ovals using H-D clamps. No matter where I positioned them, I still had slight leaks. Was getting the bike serviced so I had my "Indy" seal them with high temp silicone. So far, all is good.

High temp Cooper exhaust gasket is the way to go.........I've used it a few times on exhausts with great results. It's in a tube for about $5 at any autopart store.

You don't need anything but two new exhaust clamps.

What are you using to tighten with? 3/8" drive ratchet is not enough. Use 1/2" drive and tighten the **** out of them.
