Remember the old Boy Scout motto...."learn to do by doing". Now....you will know what to do next time. You're not the only one that has ever torn something up, or caused bodily injury working on a Harley.

Glad you got your problem solved.

This is a common problem that is caused by one of two issues. Not applying lube to the seal prior to install, or pushing the fitting in crooked. Alot of technitions ,or DIYer has done this. You can flipthe o-ring out in a few seconds with the help of a mirror as was previously stated. The o-ring is the same as the drain plug, and is a little challenging to get back in the groove. It can be repaired in 15 - 20 minutes with a little patience. No big deal.

Hey guys...new member. Just wanted to share, I'm an ex-transmission builder of 25 or so years in a previous life and thought I'd mention that it is not a good idea to soak rubber of any type in brake fluid to swell, as it weakens at the same time. Use patience for removal and DOT5 as it is silicone based to "lubricate" the o-ring on insertion of the fitting. DOT5 is a bit hard to locate and pricey @ $8.00 a bottle, but harmless to rubber seals as far as I'm aware.

2014 FLHXS - Leaky quick disconnect

https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.hdf...9e2950defe.jpgNot sure which part is leaking - the fuel line, or the part under the tank. When I disconnect the fuel line, the part under the tank is no longer leaking - but when I reinsert the fuel line it leaks like a sieve !

I found the fix

Inspect the O rings with a light and mirror if they are in good shape your in luck. The issue is that the fuel system is under pressure. You have to release the pressure so that you can reconnect to quick connect. If not your gonna leak. It's that simple. Cover the male end with a rag and push in the metal plunger with a nail. Be careful not to spray gas in your face or damage the O ring with the nail. A little fuel will spill spray out into the rag. Once the pressure is released the quick connect will seal properly. It's that simple.
