Cams
Sorry, i know its here somewhere, and have searched, just cant seem to find what im lookin for. Have heard and read somewhere about replacing cams. Im lokoin for information on the pros/cons of it. was orderin parts the other day from the stewaler and mentioned it, ended up orderin some 255's along with v&h pipes, screamin eagle intake and tuner. he basically said cams are a simple swap, easy hp. what am i gettin into here? im really just lookin for more power, and better sound
Order all tools, all parts; push rods, all gaskets, o-rings, cam spacers, oil and filter, Loc tite, assembly lube etc. Yo might as well install a +8" clutch cable for your apes your gonna install, and an easy pull clutch ramp wile you have access.
Remove exhasut
Drain Oil
Remove Cam cover- chase threads with a tap
Remove pushrod clips
Find top dead center- cut pushrod out- repeat
REmove primary sprockets and chain
Remove cam plate and oil pump
Replace inner cam bearings
REplace cam plate bearings and cams
Replace o'rings, install oil pump on crank
Install cam plate
TOrque cam plate
Align oil pump
Align, measure, shim, install, torque" primary drive train"
Install pushrod cover/ pushrods
Find top dead center- adjust pushrods- repeat
INstall gasket, cam cover, oil, filter
Prime oil pump turning rear wheel and listen for loud noises
Install exhaust.
Download new fuel map.
DO WHatever I left out
Check your list again for steps you left out
and your parts table for parts you left out
Cross fingers- hit starter- watch for ol pressure.
