Default Engine Problem 2006 Road King

I took my 2006 Road King into my dealer for a Dyno tune and they advised me that they we not able to get good Dyno readings because of leaking valve guide seals and oil blow by back to the air cleaner.

My Road King has 19,800 miles on it and I was surprised that I would have this problem.

2006 Road King
V&H Dresser Duals
V&H Monster Ovals
K&N 3909 Air Cleaner
SE Pro Super Tuner

Here is their estimate on correcting the problem and going to 1550 build in the process.

I have not had any problems with this dealer in the past and I have not heard any negative feedback on them.

Does this sound like they are in the ballpark on this estimate?

Thanks

First off, are you using oil anough to notice it on the stick? What kind of numbers did the dyno pull out of it? It does sound a bit funny to me.
If you do rebuild, no need for barrels, bore yours for 150. No need for cyl. studs. You'll need cam chain tensioners 130. for pri and sec. Inner and outer cam bearings, a cam set to go with the increased displacement. I can't imagine why new valves are in the estimate, but then again I guess I can't imagine why you have bad seals too. If its true, the motor must have gotten real hot, or poor oil quality. I'd get a second opinion first. Go to a reputable indy.

Most bikes with bad seals smoke on decelleration, the type and volume of oil may be causing excess blow by into the head breathers.

I am starting to think my dealer does not know what they are talking about.

I have not noticed any excesseve oil loss between changes. The air cleaner does have a trace oil oil on it but nothing to speak of. I added maybe 1/4 of a quart about 1000 miles ago but it was still well withing the add full lines.

I think it is time to seek out another dealer.

Leaking valves seals will not affect a dyno tune seems to me.
Leaking valve seals don't add to oil in the air intake. Will suck oil into the combustion chamber, not the air cleaner.
There would have to be serious indications first, as noted above, before these things caused more that a smoking problem.

I'd get another openion.

Thanks for the replies. I am getting another dealer to do the tune and see what they say.

After reading all the comments I think someone at the dealer does not know what they are doing or they are trying to take me for a $$ ride.

There are good dealers, and not so good dealers. Just like there are good Indys and not so good Indys. Choose with care. My money goes to a good Indy.
