Default SE259e Cams

Anyone running these? Going to SE204's and it was suggested I use the SE259's. Going into a 2010 FXDF with SE intake & exhaust, otherwise a stock 96. Suggestions?

With the 259E's, you will need a bump in compression to make this cam work the best and you will need high lift springs in your heads, unless the newer twin cam stock heads can support a .579 lift.
You won't need any of this with the 204's. The 204 is a good bolt in cam. You will be happy with the TQ & HP gains. If you have the time take a look at the HQ-TC-500 cam from Head quarters too.

I took out my SE 251's which are virtually identical to the SE 259e's and installed DME 575's and after tuning I am happier with the DME cams over the SE cams.

I have 204's and love them, the 259e needs more compression to work right

Agree with other posters, "Do NOT do the SE259E" without increasing the compression. It is a waste of money unless you want your torque and horsepower above 3500 RPM.

Was going to do the 259 till I looked at the valve timing.
This is a epa cam.
If I had to chose between the 204 and the 259 I would take the 204. Hearing good things on the 204 but the 259 people were expecting more. This may be due to compression but like I said I dont like the timing for some reason on paper it reminds me of the 255. If you were to draw this cam on paper with the specs on a graph.

Yep. Read the same. With the stock CR the 204's seem a good fit. I am ordering tomorrow. Have a new set of SE lifters and rear bearings. Considering getiing the rolller rocker, as well. Don't expect any performance increase, just thinking the whole system will "roll" smoother!?

In a Dyna 96" w/Stage one, would you do the F-525 or F-574? I want an all-around cam, I'm rev-happy but want to get up and go quickly, too. I think I'm in the 2-4RPM range often, but I've been known to hit the limiter from time to time and I know the stock cames give up past 4,500/5,000RPM right quick on my bike. In my Stage 1 when I had the quiet baffles in my bub jug huggers, I could spin the tire off the line with the right clutch movement... the BUB 2:1 I had was garbage... took away torque... but sounded like sex. The good kind...
