Question Getting White Smoke at Idle after installing Heavy Breather

Posted in General but was not seeing any response so thought i would post here. I had Stage one done on my bike but at the time I did not put on a heavy breather. I have since installed the heavy breather but now when i am at a stop light or just Idling i get a lot of white smoke. I have Screaming Eagle pipes and Super tuner SE Pro (part # 32109-08B).

What did i do wrong and how can i fix it?

Start with what you did last.

That white smoke would be water condensation if the engine is cold, but you infer the engine is all warmed up when you see this smoke, Right?

If this is the case it is oil smoke.
Maybe the new breather is lowering the restriction there and allowing the engine vents to vent more voluum. This is a good thing. Carrying more oil with the increased flow. This is a bad thing.

Without knowing more hard to say. Year bike?

Maybe too much oil in the tank. Could increase pressure in the engine.

After this, look at the Oil Separators under the top cylinder covers.

These can be worked with, to work much better.

If you go there, which is not hard to do this, suggest a Service Manual

Thanks for the input. Yes the bike was warm when this started happening. It is a 2009 Road King Classic and the last thing i did on the bike was install the heavy breather. After the install i took it out for a test ride and noticed the smoke about 1/2 hour into ride and really bad after I had it opened up for a short stretch.

I am putting the old filter back on to see if it continues.

Update:
Replaced the heavy breather back to the original and took it for a test ride. No issues except some back fire for the first couple of blocks. Never smoked once and it took it though its paces.

Man i love biking in Phoenix. Way better than the chilly north were i would not even be biking yet.

Did you retain the two breather screws removed from the backplate and reuse with the new Heavy Breather? I do recall reading something about this when I was shopping for a new breather setup and for some reason, think it may (probably not) be related. Was just a mental note at the time which was a year or so ago. Just trying to help.

The HB uses the stock bolts and the Stage 1 air cleaner uses the ones that come with the Stage 1 air cleaner, HRLYSG is correct, if you use the wrong ones the breathers will not breathe creating very high crankcase pressure.

I did not do the stage one Kane's in Calgary did so I just used the bolt that were on the stage one thinking they were the correct one. If they are not I need to go back to Kane's to get the right bolts..... curious to know why bolts would do that however.

Does look nice! Get some stock bolts and you should be good from what I've read and vaguely recalled. A similar threads can be found below...

I knew I kept my stock bolts for a reason. Good luck.

Got the spare parts from the dealer sitting in a box at home. Have to wait till I get home to see if I have those bolts. Love learning new stuff thanks for all the good input.
