I've always wondered if those 110+ heads weren't overkill for that particular 103 build. Maybe by scaling the heads and cams back a little, the performance will be a little more streetable.

I've also changed my wheel pulley to the 68t, which I'd recommend to anyone with a 07-08 touring rig. I'll be swapping my trans pulley to the 30t tri-glide pulley when I tear the motor down for the 107 build. I was gonna do all of that last month, but the weather got too nice, and now I don't really want to lose a weekend. I'm thinking I'll wait until September.
Yes I have the CNC ported MVA heads and you're right in thinking the CNC factory heads will be a better all around fit for a 103" with those cams. Those cnc factory heads should hit harder due to the smaller valves but they also flow close to the 110+'s do out of the box. I may try a 31 front pulley first before doing any other gearing changes.

Smile 2012 fatboy 103 stage4 upgrade questin:

Going to get a stage4 upgrade but was wondering if i should get the tw-777 cam instead of the 259e that comes with it, i want the torque right from the get go and have it last and from posts i've seen this would be the case? any input would be appreciated thnx.

I would of thought the aftermarket cam manufacturers would be right onto offering a bolt in alternative for the stage4 race kit to move things to the left a touch

Do you have a 2 to 1 pipe?

Another option to think about is the cam I ran in my Stage IV; TR Performance, T-Man 625. I tried 4 different cams. My Kit came with the SE260. The SE260 came on way too late, but hold on over 2900 rpm.

I ran the 259E for awhile. Got low end back but wasn't has peppy over 4500 rpm. I installed T-Man's 590 cam and it was great. Excellent overall cam. But I felt I could squeeze out a few more ponies in the higher RPMs with the TR-625 and I was right. The TR-625 stayed in the bike for over 40,000 miles when I traded it for a 2014 Ultra Limited.

If I were to do it again, I would save myself some money and go straight to the TR-625...no doubt about it.

With that cam I dyno'd 114 HP and 115 TQ. I run a D&D Fat Cat 2 into 1 exhaust. The curve was excellent starting at 2200 rpm and it pulled hard all the way to 6000 rpm.

You need to understand though, with a high-lift cam like that, you are certainly going to have allot of valve train noise.

i didnt read all the posts but if your gonna stay with the SE cams i would use the se255 cams, they run pretty good. i had them in my 08 crossbones. i didnt buy a stage4 kit. we just put together a bunch of se parts. sounds similar to what you mentioned came in the kit
