Default dyna red shift 577 cams

I am install zippers 577 cams in my 2009 dyna this week. I have a good two into one and i am hoping this will work ok till i do the heads and motor next fall. I have a great dyno tuner.

any comments would help.
Thanks

The intake valve on the 577 does not close until 47 degrees. That is way too late for my likes. I have an '07 Dyna and I am doing the cams/heads/103 right now, and the absolute latest intake valve closing I would consider is 41 degrees to keep the power at the low to mid range.

If you stay with the 577 cams - I was playing around with the Bigboyz calculator, and you are going to need .03 head gaskets and 5 cc dome pistons to get that setup up to 190psi/9.2 CCR (with 84cc heads).

Default 577

From what i see from dyno charts, they dont come on til about 3000 rpm.
And they like flat top piston 103 configurations. I think i can deal with the soft low end til the 103 kit gets installed in fall.

Thanks

It will be a little soft at bottom, but your on a lite bike so it shouldn't be that bad.

On my dyna I love twisties and canyon running as well around town. So, I am looking for 2500 - 4000. The 577's timing looks like high end power to me, not low to mid.

Yeah i ride kinda hard in colorado. Mountains lots of open road, and fast city. 8-10 thousand miles a year.

Just have to suffer until i 103 or 107 to get rid of the soft low end. I may have to stay in higher rpms and watch my gas. I just can't cam twice and dont have the money to have it done all at once.

I do have a great dyno guy though. He said that he can get that cam to come on earlier.

That cam likes high comp put some more into it and advance the timing down low and mid give it a little push it come on stronger and quicker. Just watch out for pinging.

For my Dyna cam project, I am only looking at cams with intake closing around 39-41 degrees.
If the OP has his heart set on a redshift product, I would look at their 575 cam.

For my search, I narrowed it down to the redshift 575, TMAN 600, TW777 or TW-7. All have similar lifts and similar valve timing. LSAs are 100.5 to 102. So, all within the same class of low to mid cams.

The redshift 577 cam is in another class - 46 degree cams. If considering that one, I would also look at the SE251 or SE259E. Again, those are all high RPM cams.

Nice wide torque band. Peak around 4000+, as I would expect with that late closing valve.
Exhaust reversion between 2500 and 3250.

Another problem with that extremely late valve closing is the need for domed pistons to get your mechanical compression up, as the corrected compression becomes very low with extremely late intake close.
