Does A. Ness make a Big Sucker for an S&S carb?

Anybody got one. I'm thinkin the answer is, NO. Cause I can't find one. I can find one for a CVO carb, but not an S&S. They aren't the same mounts, are they? Thanks for the info.

no, they do not. There are aftermarket carb support brackets that do what the BS does ie route breather back into throat, tho. I'm not into that design and just run a breather hose to atmosphere...

but if that's what you want, the cleaner look of the internal breather, there are carb support brackets like this one:

of course you still need a backplate, filter, and cover...

if you really just had to run the BS, you could procure an S&S to CV mount adapter that would create a CV mount pattern, then fab or procure spacers for the plate-to-head mounts to fill the gap you'd create.

Thanks Dave. Just lookin to trade in my run of the mill S&S air cleaner for something with an open element. I guess.... if it ain't broke, don't fix it. Haha

JustDave71 02-11-2012 05:56 PM

when you say open element, you mean the exposed filter look?

I wanted to do that, too, when I had a bike with an S&S. It can be done, but truth is as long as you're running a free flowing filter you're not gaining that much.

If it's just for looks, there are ways to do it. You could always fabricate your own cover, maybe take an S&S teardrop one and cut it at the radius? There are a couple companies that make teardrop shaped filters instead of just round...I thnk that'd look pretty slick.

Yeah, that's what I meant.. exposed element. Just want a different look. Everybody has the tear drop. I don't really care for the spike look. I would love a stack, but they don't protect any.

teardrop is standard, ubiquitous.

BUT, I've never seen someone with a teardrop shaped filter that had just a cap on it. I think it'd look cool!

like this?

or a blue one

and then use something like this for a cover and to hold the element in place:

I don't think that one would be exactly right, but you get the idea.

haha I wish I had the 113" to put that last cover on.

JustDave71 02-12-2012 12:48 PM

right right, but you get what I'm gettin at, right? If you could find an extra standard teardrop cover you could hack that, too

72camaross 02-12-2012 12:49 PM

There is a bunch of cool tear drop covers on ebay. May end up going that route if I don't go with some sort open element.

But, thanks for the idea. All I need is an old tear drop base and cover and I could cut it up. Hell yeah, never thought of that. Then nobody would have the same air cleaner as me. haha
