Default Inline fuel filter breaks ? Come on

I have a custom chopper. Resently i had a guy put a new air cleaner on it. When doing so he added a new gas line and reinstalled the inline clear fuel filter. After riding it a little whlie i felt moisture on my face when riding, din't think noting about it as cars air condition units often splash me with moisture.
After stopping at a store and shutting down engine, i had a flood of gas dumping out on the motor, trans and other places comming from the fuel filter. It broke right around the top where the metal meets the clear cylinder. A lot of gas dumped out before i could shut the tank off.
Anyone ever had this happen? I think not. I have not read anything in these forums about it.
Upon looking at the filter , it appears that it is in a bind and had presssure on it. I think it was the guys fault.
What do you think?
Any comments and or suggestions would greatly be accepted.
Thnaks in advance

Default Fuel filter

Never had any luck with those glass filters myself, they always leaked.
Used pingle filters with no issues.
