extending V&H pro pipe 10"

extending pipe
An extension from the header pipe may destroy the scavenging effect somewhat, but maybe not. It has to be at least the same dia, 2 1/2" I believe.
I have a pro pipe on my Dyna 124" S&S T124. The pipe ends just behind the axle. When I installed saddlebags, it echoed from under the bags to the point of offending me.
I built a 6" extension that attaches to the rear, taking the place of the original baffle, still using the original baffle with a second larger baffle in the extesion. The pipe now ends at the rear of the bag, much better sound, quite subdued when cruising, but still sounds off when accelerating!
The best part, it shows 3 ft/lb more torque and 2.5hp increase over the stock V&H baffle. The extension also smooths out the torque curve slightly. A win, win in my books!
I'd suggest you try your extension on a dyno to see if it adversly effects the performance, it may actually improve it, won't know until you try! Fastrider124
