Default Which motor

Okay guys I'm trying to decide which motor to build. I want it reliable as I tour alot on my bike.
Option 1 screaming eagle stage 4 103 but switching the cams with s and s gear drive 625 or 640's I'm gonna keep the compression at 10.5
Option 2 screaming eagle 113 again changing the cams to s and s gear drive.
What's yalls thoughts on both motors? I have a 2009 streetglide that the motor will be going into and I tour alot on it mostly solo with little luggage.
I am trading my 91 mustang 5.0 for the parts and labor to my best friend as he is the service manager at the local hd dealership. He has the 113 kit with s and s gear drive 640 in his bike and made 124 hp

If I were to do another build I would stick with the 107. No case boring. T-man would be my choice with the thumper series (stage 4) heads. You will get better results than a SE 113 with this build. Do the bottom end as well and you will have a great reliable build. Good luck on teh build whatever you do.

Why spend the $$$ on Gear-drives? I don't see the need. The hydraulic cam plate/ tensioners are a solid set-up. Save the $$$, and spend it toward better headwork.

There is no substitute for going with recommendations from someone you can look in the eye! If you know him well and can talk through what you want of your bike, go with what he recommends. He's your best friend? Can't be better. You don't need any help from us!

Peak hp on a touring bike really is no where near as important as a big broad torque curve that comes off idle and pulls very strong, to say, 5500.
This what I suggest;
Wood 777 cams
Heads re-worked(our Stage III Touring Heads would work VERY well indeed)
D&D Fatcat, our equivilant
Re-work t/body.
Won't make 124 hp, BUT, I guarantee, it'll be one hellava lot more fun to ride, in that touring environment.

I think the idea here is that he's getting this work on trade, so telling him to go somewhere else is not helping. If it were me and it didn't cost anything above and beyond your Mustang, I'd go for the 113". No replacement for displacement

I would do the 113 and go with T-Man 625 cam. You will need great headwork and I would suggest getting some SE110 take offs from e-bay and sending them to Dan Vance Racing. I went 117 and am making some good numbers!

If your bike is an 09, there is no need to go to the gear drive cams, in fact I would tell you not to do it as the late model tensioner setup is fine. If you truly want touring bike power, go with the 113, and rethink the cam choice to something that will give you a bit more torque lower in the RPM band. If sticking with HD parts, you might want to consider the 259 cam. good power where you will use it most.
