Since no response on other thread I'll try a new one. Bought a 02 special construction softail. It has an EVO motor in it, but the serial number on the case doesn't come back to any manufacturer I've called. The number does not look altered and was inspected and titled with no problem. I would just like to figure out what I have. The heads are revtech but they do not match the jugs or case. The jugs and cases are polished and have no markings at all to signify manufacturer. The serial number starts with BKLT. No other numbers or marking anywhere on lower end. Thanks.

 

Do you have no papers with it at all? The original builder surely kept a record of what he used. Is it a homebuild or a custom shop? What is it called on the title?

 

I found your other thread. I suggest you ask again in the Custom section, just in case anyone in there can answer your query. If you can't get sensible answers out of the builder there isn't much hope!

 

The actual guy that built the bike was a mechanic at Joplin Harley and was building it there. He kept no records as he was building it for his wife. He passed away about the time it got finished and want actually titled until his wife sold it two years later. So the builder can't answer my questions and no one else seems to have a clue as to what he might have done. The title just says HD for the make and the model is Custom. I guess I'm not gonna worry about it till something happens internally, then I can pull it apart and measure stroke and bore and look for markings inside. Thanks for the reply grbrown

 

That does make things rather difficult! If you visit custom shows and bike meets it will be worth looking at engine numbers, in the hope you come across another BKLT.....
