Default Softail pipes on FXR

Hello,
I am new here but I have a question for some of your knowledgable folk. I have an 87 FXR that has been thouroughly modified. I want change my pipes but, as you know, there are not that many options for FXR pipes (epecially used ones). I am pretty handy and have machinist friends. I would like to know if anyone has put softail pipes on a rubber mounted FXR, if so what did their bracket look like? Do they sell the conversion brackets?

Are you aware that FXR engines are canted differently in their frame than the engines in a Softail? Softail engines are straight up, FXR engines are tipped forward slightly and Dynas are tipped backwards a little. I've never seen anyone try to heat ST pipes to fit FXR brackets, but I suppose it might be possible. Frankly, though, I see lots of FXR pipes on the market, but they are new ones. Have you tried this forum's Want to Buy area?

Thanks for the reply. I was not aware of the different mountings for teh EVO's. I got a set of Dyna pipes for free yesterday to play with. But, it sounds like they will be further off than Softail pipes.

I may have spoken too soon about availibility of FXR pipes. I was just on Cycle Shack's site and they no longer list any pipes or mufflers for FXR's. Bad news for sure because their's are as good as any and way cheaper than most.
