Re-balancing 106" flywheels ???

Have this flywheel assembly: S&S part #32-2242 - Replacement 8-1/4" flywheel assembly for 106" engines with 4-1/2" stroke in 1999 - ' 02 Harley-Davidson® big twin models. These flywheels come with connecting rods and are assembled and balanced for 92-1210 pistons.

Can these flywheels be re-balanced for a 4.125 bore cylinder kit AND be upgraded with a timken bearing on the sprocket side ??????

Call s&s and ask them

S&S reply: "The flywheels can be rebalanced for a 4 1/8" bore piston, however, S&S does not have a piston available in that bore for the 4 1/2" stroke. If you are able to find a suitable piston, as long as the weight of the piston is known, balancing should not be an issue.

If the flywheels are set up for the stock roller bearing, simply heat the bearing race on the shaft and pull it off, then your Timkens can be installed.

Technical Support ............

In a world where 117's and 124's rule the road, not much of an aftermarket venue for the 120" twin cam supporting the 4-1/2" stroker wheels ????

I know you posted this quite a while ago, but thanks for posting S&S's response. I have one of these cranks and am looking for pistons for a 117 or 120 build. The only pistons I have found so far are those S&S for the 106.

We've built several 120"ers here in the past.
They run up in the high 130's/low 140's on hp, set up correctly.
Axtell has 4 1/8" piston/cylinder kits for that 4 1/2" arm.

Thanks for posting that Scott. I will look into those cylinders and pistons. I have noticed a lot of these big bore cylinder kits have different heights. I have had a little difficulty in searching out cylinder heights, rod lengths, and piston weights. I am not adverse to turning the base of a cyl to come up with the right deck height, but so much of the info is not available to me yet. Even the piston weights of the S&S 106 pistons are difficult for me to find.
