Having stall issues with my 2007 electra glide classic. Bewitched ! Runs great one day and crappy the next. Stalls on stops. Fires right back up and runs fine through all gears until the next stop. Changed cam positioner sensor ( bike code ). Ran fine for a couple of weeks , then it started again. only run ethonol free gas. Just started doing something different yesterday. Started bike and rpm's stayed at 20000 . WTF. Shut bike off and restarted. Back to normal. Both are intermitten issues. May ride all week perfectly. Only upgrade is Stage 1 kit. Need advice on fixing this problem.

We can offer suggestions, but it is difficult to diagnose those sorts of problem over the internet, from afar. My advice is to find a local indy who can see the bike in front of him and run some tests, also ask you questions to help diagnose the problem.

Have you tried cleaning the IAC?

david foster 05-01-2013 09:02 PM

Not to sound like a DA, but what is the IAC ? Just bought her in Oct. How you I complete this cleaning ?

Idle Air Control. It's a small step motor located inside the throttle body opening. Take off the air filter and it's in there at about 11:00. Put a clean rag behind it so none of the crap runs into the intake manifold. Get some throttle body (or carb) cleaner and give it a couple of sprays. Cycling the ignition a few times so the motor will move in and out helps to expose more dirt. See how it runs.
Sometimes the IAC itself is bad. They are not expensive but always try cleaning it first.
If it's the first time you heard about something don't worry about it. Even the smartest people here (and I don't include myself) had to learn stuff somewhere.
Spend the money and get a service manual, it costs less than an hour of a mechanic's labor rate.
Another piece of friendly advice- when you start a post be a little more descriptive. More people will pay attention to it.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the help. Raining today, so it's a good time to tear into IAC and hope it remedies my problem. Will stop by the Harley shop and grab a manual. Will post back results when it quits raining and I can test her out. If that doesn't help, I will swap out the ECM. One of my riding buddies just completed some serious upgrades and has a like new ECM he changed out. Plug and play for my bike. We will see .
