Hello everyone,
I have a 24 flhp with a se tuner. I found a good deal on a vance and hines power dual header with no catalyst. I currently have rinehart dbx45s. I installed the power dual header with the rineharts. My dilemma is my idle surges at idle drastically. 900-1000-1100. I even did a smart tune and it cured it for a short while. Cam the se tuenr handle a catless headpipe or are the dbx45 with the vh power duals too much? I ended up putting teh stock headpipe back on and its much better. It does fluctuate at times but not as pronounced. Any thoughts?

Howdy all,

In all the mods I've made to my touring bike I've wanted some way to check the oil temperature. Not to really watch it constantly, but to at least get an idea of the range it runs in with the motor in its current configuration. I checked my Power Vision tuner and it doesn't seem to have a way to monitor it so I'm guessing that function isn't built into the bikes' systems.

I've heard a few good things about the temperature gauge dipsticks from JES customs. Is that a good way to go or is there something better suited for the job somewhere else?

I left om May 7th from Colorado to Nashville and then Maggy Valley. In Kansas I get gas and as I'm pumping it I notice it says 30% biofuel. After about1 miles the bike starts to hesitate over 70 mph. I ride it down to 1/2 tank and refuel w/ 10% gas. Still holding speeds under 75 the engine check light comes on and it go into limp mode. I pull over not knowing what to do I try reloading my tune and reset the fuel trims. Bike starts and runs ok as long as i keep the speeds below 75.After the next fill I reset trims again and I started to run good but I didn't want to push it to much. Get to Nashville and ride the week around Maggy Valley and back to Nashville with no issues. Then Saturday I start home on the freeway leaving Nashville cruise set at 72mph give it a little to get around a semi it starts to hesitate again. rode about 20 mile and it got worst and pulled it over and reset trims. Rode all day under 70 and ran with no problems until late in the day again cruising at 68 go around a semi and it started hesitating big time almost pulled off the freeway but when I dropped below 70 it ran fine. I reset the trims when I got to my hotel. Rode the next 2 days without issues and when I got back the Colorado Springs I get on it hard and Still no issues. I'm at 6600 ft and the problems seem to happen above 2500 feet. Anyone have a clue. Running Power vision with Fuel moto tune.

Looking for advice, expetise, thoughts etc.
Just had Stage 2 done. 2016 SGS,103 HO. Woods 777 cams, SE Adjustable Pushrods, Fueling lifters, bearings, tensioners and dyno tune. Heavy Breather intake, stock decatted head pipes with Rinehart slips. 93.6 HP & 112 TQ. Bike pulls pretty good over 3000rpm, definitely better than the Stage 1. But at lower rpm has an intermittent stutter, almost like a misfire, and not all the time. My biggest issue is gas mileage. It Really sucks. Used to get around 35 mpg, now its around 20mpg. I don't really crank on it much, and very little hwy riding, because its faster on back roads around here (damn road construction and stupid cage drivers). It seems to be running a little too rich. I have had a couple issies with the twist grip sensor and will be installing a new one in a couple weeks. Do you think the tgs would cause it to run very rich or cause that much mpg loss? As much as I love my bike, at over $8 gal (2.20 liter) for premium gas, its getting costly to ride.

I dropped the bike off a at a local indy way back in November. Today was the first decent weather weve had and I finally picked the bike up. Heres what we did:

Andrews 462 Cam
Krome Werks Hidden header
K&N filter, stock box
Dyno Jet Power Vision 4 with a custom (canned) map from V&H
Meuller hydraulic clutch replacement

My review: I rode the bike about 20 miles home today on rural back roads.
Cam: I can definitely feel more mid range pull. GOBS of mid range. Butt dyno tells me about a 15% increase. Off the line....Im not sure yet as Im too chickemsheet to really dump the clutch just yet.
Header: Bike sounds SO much better 'on the roll'. No real change at idle, but VERY rich and throaty when you open it up
Meuller clutch- Im not sure on this one, as I dont feel a huge difference, but that may also be because I havnt ridden the bike in 7 months.
Power Vision 4- Cons:I installed this last season and honestly, for its price, I feel its very limited. I ran autotune several times last season and still had gaping areas of red in the map. Pros: I contacted Dyno Jet about a custom map given my build and they had one back to me within a few days.

All in all, this is something Ive wanted to do for a while and the M8 is back to scaring me a bit when I crack the throttle. Mission accomplished. Maybe next season Ill get it dyno'd, but for now I really gotta get some saddle time and really feel what this cam does.

Hello Forum,

Alert! Purchased a set of Oberon Adjustable brake & clutch levers only to discover the clutch lever does not press in the pin inside the hand control module. I ride a 2017 Road Glide Ultra with a hydraulic clutch. Oberon levers has a heavily complained about issue since your bike will only start in neutral using their clutch lever. So, looking for a "good set" of levers that actually work as they should. I contacted the seller about this issue but they did nothing. No return/refund just sorry about that! Avoid Oberon levers if you ride a touring Harley with a hydraulic clutch. If your bike suddenly shuts off while riding for whatever reason finding neutral fast may present a potentially dangerous situation for riders. Oberon, please fix your clutch levers for hydraulic clutches! Have you seen the outrageous, inflated prices some levers cost? Ridiculous! Almost $400 for some. Greedy! Greedy, greedy vendors!

Evening

I'm in the UK and looking for a bit of advice ..... had a few Harleys but mainly all twin cam and currently have an as new Slim S with the 110 engine and a 2011 Street glide with 48k miles that is nice but showinmg its age in places. The UK is probably a little harder on bikes lasting than the USA and over here 48k is considered higher mileage .....

I retire in a few years so looking at getting the best I can afford with the lowest miles - used not new - and love the Street Glide to go with the slim.

I won't be in a position to change after I retire.

I was set on trying to find a rushmore twin cam in mint condition and low mileage but they are quite hard to get over here - but am being drawn to M8's that are just about in my price range that are like new so may have a longer shelf life ?

So ..... with all that said I've come across two that take my eye

First is a 2024 in red with 12k miles and apart from heated grips - no other extras - 2 owners
Second a black 2022 with 10k miles and again 2 owners with Vance and Hines and heated grips

Price wise they are within £500 of each other with the black one being dearer.

Both at Harley dealer with history etc

Anything to pick one over the other - thanks

There isn’t a whole lot of information available on Sargent seats in the Harley community. So I thought I’d leave a review of my experience for the one I just purchased for a 2025 FLHP. For reference, I’m about 5’11” with a 32 inch inseam and an athletic build. 5’11” with a 32 inch inseam and an athletic build.

Sargent seats are incredibly popular outside the Harley world. For Japanese and European motorcycles, there’s a lot of information out there, overwhelmingly positive. They are one of the most recommended seats in those areas.

I’ve used Sargent seats on many motorcycles before, and I’m a huge fan. I had one on a BMW R NineT, a Honda CB750, a BMW 1250GS, and a BMW 1250RT (still have the RT). Sargent uses a firmer design, versus a cushy design. They contour the seats nicely and use high quality foam on their custom seat pans. I’ve done 10+ hour days on both my GS and RT and the seats have been phenomenal.

This is my first Harley, and I absolutely love the FLHP. It’s been civilian converted, and came with the standard pre-2024 touring seat. The seat was fine for me, especially because I use the RT for long distance touring and the Road King for more casual, around town cruising. Regardless, the seat had room to improve and I wanted an upgrade.

Of course, my first target was the Mustang Touring Deluxe and the Saddlemen Road Sofa due to all the feedback, reviews and information out there in the Harley community. Of the two, it seemed that the Mustang seat had more positive reviews. The thing that made me nervous was that it moves you back nearly 2 inches. Coming from euro bikes like the GS and RT, where you are in more of an athletic, commanding riding position, my body is very sensitive to the clamshell riding position of the Harley. Is not better or worse, but just very different styles to get used to. But moving my butt back 2 more inches made me nervous that it would exaggerate that clamshell riding position. I always had Sargent in the back of my mind, but there is SO LITTLE information in the Harley community that I didn’t think it would be a good option. But I was stuck. The Saddlemen had mediocre reviews and the Mustang might be too far back. So I decided to make the move on the Sargent.

Verdict? I love it. But let me say that with a disclaimer. The reason I love the seat, aside from the build quality of the seat, it’s comfort and the reputation of the company overall, is that the seat takes a more sporty approach versus the stock seat. It sits you up just a pinch higher, and moves you a pinch closer. But moreover, it angles you in a different way. I feel like I’m in a slightly more upright, commanding position. Almost as if I’m up and canted forward a pinch, lessening the clamshell feeling. I feel like I have more of a relaxed angle at my hips versus the stock position which is more like an acute angle.

Now, it’s possible that this riding position appeals to me because I’m used to the GS/RT style. I think those Harley riders that love the clamshell position might not like the Sargent seat. And maybe it’s for that exact reason that the Mustang is so popular and why the standard version of that seat moves you back 2 inches. Maybe it’s because that’s how Harley riders generally like the seat. A little lazier, a little further back, and a little more sitting in the bike instead of on the bike. And I’m not criticizing, I can see the appeal to this style. But it’s all about what kind of riding position you want.

To conclude, if you are a Harley guy through and through, and you love the lazier, clamshell style ride, I suspect you’ll dislike what the Sargent seat does to your riding position.

However, if you are like me, and you are at home and comfortable with the more sport touring motorcycles, or even ADV style motorcycles, but you just love Harley Davidson like I do (because they’re freaking awesome), then the Sargent seat might be EXACTLY what you are looking for in a seat.

The seat sits you a little on the bike, instead of in the bike. It gives you a more controlling position. And as a result, it loosens up the clamshell feeling with a more natural hip/leg angle down to the floor boards. And the seat contour is perfect. The support is perfect (firm). The build quality is A+ and company has fantastic customer service.

Here are some pictures for you all. The one thing I might do is exchange the touring seat that I bought for a fastback version. The front seat is virtually identical in the two, but the rear rear of the fastback resembles more of the stock seat (ok for 2-up in a pinch, but not its intended use) I don’t ride 2-up, and the fastback design I believe looks better. The touring model has a very large, supportive, wide rear seat. Which you can see in my pics. Probably insanely comfortable but large and unsightly given this is a solo, local kind of cruiser for me. If I do make the exchange, I’ll update pictures so you can see both.

Anyway, for all 8 people that might be out there
looking at a Sargent seat, I hope this was very helpful for you! Ride safely all!!

Hello, is anyone familiar with the gearing and highway cruising on a 2024 era FLHTP police Electra Glide?
I have heard that the police bikes are geared for better performance in traffic and slow speed riding. I’d like to know how they are for highway use and high speed cruising compared to the standard model bikes. For example, would both the police and the standard model bike be revving the same at 80 mph? The bike that I am interested in is a 2024 FLHTP with the 114” engine and 6 speed transmission. I have ridden a 2024 standard model Road Glide, so I am familiar with how that bike cruises, although it had the 117” engine.

Thank you!

I am considering buying a zero miles 2023 street glide at my dealer. It has upgraded mirrors, handle bars, air filter, stage 1 and Rhinehart pipes. I am trading in my 2018 street glide with 20K miles. The dealer wants my bike plus $18k to get this bike out the door. Is this a decent deal? Thanks guys for your feedback.
